Bridging Ideas Across Borders
As part of our journey with ThreshWorks, we had the opportunity to participate in an exchange session facilitated by the UNDP following our win at the Youth Agri Innovation Pitching Competition.
This experience brought us into direct conversation with students from Japan, creating a space to share ideas, perspectives, and approaches to innovation across very different contexts.
What stood out most was the exchange of thinking. While our work is deeply rooted in addressing agricultural challenges in The Gambia, the discussions highlighted how innovation — regardless of geography — is driven by the same core principles: problem-solving, adaptability, and impact.
We shared the story behind ThreshWorks — from identifying inefficiencies in rice processing to designing and building a practical solution for smallholder farmers. In return, we gained new insights into how technology, structure, and collaboration are approached in other parts of the world.
Experiences like this go beyond exposure. They reinforce the importance of building solutions that are locally relevant, while thinking globally about scale, efficiency, and sustainability.
Representing ThreshWorks in this space was not just an opportunity — it was a reminder that the challenges we are working to solve are part of a much larger global conversation.
And we are just getting started.
